Data Storage

Adulting Academy uses a combination of local device storage (localStorage) and secure cloud storage for registered users. Local data includes your progress, preferences, and theme settings. When you create an account, your data is synced to our secure cloud database (hosted by Neon PostgreSQL on AWS) so you can access your progress across devices.

What We Store Locally

• Your selected life stage (age range)
• Module completion status and quiz scores
• Life Points balance and achievement progress
• Streak history and daily challenge data
• Shop purchases and checklist progress
• Theme preference (light/dark)

What We Store in the Cloud (Registered Users)

• Email address and hashed password (for authentication)
• Display name and life stage selection
• Module completions, quiz scores, and learning progress
• Subscription plan and billing status
• Analytics data (if consent is granted)

Payment Processing

Subscription payments are processed securely by Stripe (for web) and Apple In-App Purchase (for iOS). We do not store credit card numbers or payment details on our servers. Stripe handles all payment data in compliance with PCI-DSS standards. Apple manages iOS transactions through your Apple ID.

AI Coach (ARIA)

Our AI coach, ARIA, uses the OpenAI API to generate personalized responses. Your messages to ARIA are sent to OpenAI for processing and are not stored permanently. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models. ARIA conversations are rate-limited and not linked to your identity.

Third Parties

We use the following third-party services:

• Neon PostgreSQL (AWS us-east-2): Secure cloud database for user accounts and progress
• Netlify: Application hosting and serverless functions
• Stripe: Payment processing for web subscriptions
• Apple: In-App Purchase processing for iOS subscriptions
• OpenAI: AI coach (ARIA) responses
• Self-hosted fonts: Inter and Nunito typography (no external requests)

Your Rights

You have full control over your data at all times:

• Export: Use Settings → Export Data to download a JSON backup of all your data
• Delete: Use Settings → Reset All Data to permanently erase all local data
• Account Deletion: Contact us at support@reaveslabs.ai to request full deletion of your cloud account and all associated data
• Analytics Opt-Out: You can opt out of analytics collection at any time through the app

Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Adulting Academy is designed for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

Data Security

Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage. Authentication uses JSON Web Tokens (JWT) with 7-day expiration. All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption. We follow industry-standard security practices to protect your information.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the "Last updated" date will change. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Adulting Academy is an educational application that provides life skills education through interactive lessons, quizzes, checklists, and gamification. The app is available as a Progressive Web App and a native iOS application. Free and premium subscription tiers are available.

User Data

Your data is stored locally on your device and, for registered users, synced to our secure cloud servers. You are responsible for maintaining your account credentials. You may export your data at any time using the Export Data feature. For account deletion requests, contact support@reaveslabs.ai.

Limitation of Liability

AdultingAcademy is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. RLL is not liable for any damages arising from the use of this application or reliance on its content.

Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these terms and the application at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are billed monthly ($9.99/month) or annually ($79.99/year). Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. For iOS, subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID settings. For web, subscriptions are managed through Stripe. Refunds follow the respective platform's refund policy.
